1970 Bristol 42 Trawler
Little River, SC

Back
Previous Next

Designed by Eldridge and McInnis the 42 Bristol Trawler is a classic design with timeless lines.  She could easily be mistaken for many other trawlers of the day, two-cabin two-head layout, lots of room, large salon.  A great number of these boats were built in India with variations on features and unfortunately on quality as well.

This particular Bristol, number 37, can be traced back several decades through only a few owners, and is a very special boat indeed!  She was laid up in Rhode Island but finished in North Carolina.  She has features not found on other 42's and her quality of construction compares with few.

Powered by a solid pair of 4-53 Detroits she was hauled and inspected this summer (2017) and received an extensive list of maintenance services and upgrades including fresh bottom paint (no blisters), hull and engine zincs as well as oils changed, new boot and deck striping, new bimini for the bridge enclosure, new batteries for the engines and the inverter, plus a good bit more!

This is a boat of excellent quality and condition!  The previous two owners in her past have loved this boat like a member of their respective families, and can discuss her in detail back for several decades.  If you want a good quality, efficient, well maintained boat to become a member of your family, ready for extensive cruising RIGHT NOW, this is the one to see!

Accommodations

While the typical Bristol 42 features the classic two stateroom two head design, this particular vessel has a few variations not found on others.  The aft master stateroom has an aft facing center-line double berth, while the forward cabin has the more conventional V-Berth configuration.  A convertible double settee in the salon brings the comfortable accomodations total to six.  The aft master head features a stall shower.

The aft master cabin has dresser cabinets with drawer storage on both port and starboard sides as well as a large hanging locker.  The forward cabin also has drawer storage, storage inder the V-Berth, and an additional hanging locker.

The salon features two entry doors, starboardside to the aft section of the salon and portside to the forward, adjacent to the portside lower helm.  Unlike most Bristol 42's there is no entry door from the aft deck, thus providing more room and better use of space.
