SOUTHERN CROSS is a compact trawler that feels much larger than a typical 34 footer. These Trawlers are built for speed and comfort as well as economy. The Cummins QSB 5.9l 425 HP engine (385 hours) knocks the competition out of the park when it comes to fuel economy. You can cruise at 7 knots or 22 knots, depending on the nature of your journey. During a remarkable 2.5 month circuit of the Great Loop (see TheGreatestLoop.com ) crewed mostly by owners and yachting journalists, the BENETEAU 34 SWIFT TRAWLER received glowing praise from all who participated for it's great ride, fuel economy and ease of handling.
SOUTHERN CROSS has been maintained to a very high standard and must be seen to be appreciated. It has many fantastic features and upgrades too many to mention here but check out the full details. For those looking to do the Great Loop, the bridge clearance with the mast up is 25'. With the mast down it is 11'11". Southern Cross is conveniently located in the fresh water of the Waccamaw River in Murrells Inlet, SC.
The interior of this vessel is light and airy and offers a 365 degree view. Entry can be made from the Pilot's Door on the starboard side or from the sliding door in the cockpit. As you enter the salon from the cockpit you will see a roomy sofa to starboard that converts to a sleeper and to port you will see the 32" Flatscreen TV, twin teak directors chairs and a custom removable table top that conveniently connects to the cabinet rail. Below the cabinet countertop you will find 2 spacious storage cabinets. There is a larger teak table with a heavy base that has been put in storage by the current owners but will convey with the boat. In its place the owners have purchased two small expandable leaf tables that work great while sitting on the couch and can easily be moved to access the engine compartment below the salon sole. The flooring is teak and holly but is covered by a snap in floor fabric for protection. The Galley is forward to the port side, is very functional and features all modern appliances and adequate storage. To Starboard is the lower helm with a double wide helm seat, a pilot's door and a floor elevator for those vertically challenged skippers. Down 3 steps forward the guest Bunkroom is to port and the Head/Shower Compartment is to Starboard. Forward is the Master Stateroom featuring an centerline Queen Berth with storage below and to each side.
